What comes to mind when you think of a preacher or minister? Many picture a very mild man who wears “Mr. Roger” sweaters and has a sweet disposition – one who makes friends with everyone he meets.

They don’t think of someone who lives alone, dresses in rough clothing, and offends many of the people who hear him preach. Yet, this is exactly what John the baptizer was. A man that lived in the desert, away from most people, and preached stern lessons exposing sin and called on people to repent.
