Elisha The Prophet Podcast Series
In this episode we begin a new season with the prayer that the content of this podcast will encourage you in your desire to serve God. We also begin a new series focused on one of the Old Testament prophets who is known, but perhaps not well known. His mentor overshadows him in many ways, but he stands on his own when it comes to the scope and impact of his work. So, in this episode we begin an examination of the life of Elisha.
In this episode we continue an examination of the life and work of the Old Testament prophet Elisha. We will dig into the beginning of his labors when Elijah called him to his side through the time of Elijah’s stunning departure. On both occasions, Elisha took up Elijah’s mantle; literally and figuratively. This time period reveals the character and dedication of a great man who was determined to serve God in his life. Our aim should be to aspire to like devotion to our Lord and His cause.
In this episode we examine some of the miracles associated with Elisha. These signs and wonders may be easy to miss in the overall record of his life as they are briefly mentioned; commonly only 2 or 3 verses. However, they reveal his credentials from God and help us understand the nature of his work among Israel. We will consider God’s power to heal the land and how He can provide abundantly, as well as the Lord’s judgment against His enemies.
In this episode we continue a look at the life of Elisha the prophet – his life and events involving him. We will examine 2 Kings 3 where three allied kings go on a punitive campaign against a neighboring king. There is trepidation by the faithless king of Israel, but confidence in the faithful king of Judah and the Lord’s prophet, Elisha. The record of the events in 2 Kings 3 are both amazing and shocking and worthy of our attention.
